The inaugural year that we celebrated April as the National Month of Hope was 2018 and I went on a national radio tour to promote it. In addition to the media campaign Mothers In Crisis is providing a rope of hope through our “Balls for Hope Campaign” and people are receiving them and holding on to them for dear life. The National Month of Hope is finally here, and I have been having a wonderful time embarking on a local, national, and international media campaign to get the word out about April being the National Month of Hope. As she was talking she was squeezing the hope stress ball and unbeknownst to her, my heart as well. She was extremely appreciative and said that she needs hope to keep her alive and to give her inner peace. I remember a particularly touching event when we gave a hope stress ball to Quantina, a dear sister who has many struggles that she is overcoming in life. We continue the dialogue and support in any way that we can, thus forming a supportive network for those who may be slipping through the cracks. In addition to giving them the hope stress balls, volunteers have hope chats with participants to let them know that they are not alone. It feels good to be able to bring a little help and hope to them. Winners of the essay contest will receive cash prizes.Īs a non-profit volunteer organization, Mothers In Crisis gets calls every day from people going through tough times. In addition to distributing the hope stress balls Mothers In Crisis also launched the Balls for Hope Essay Contest, requesting recipients of the hope balls to write essays about how they used them to relieve stress. Whenever we give each person a hope stress ball we encourage her/him to hold it, squeeze it, and say, “ As long as there is breath in my body, there is still hope,” anytime they are feeling overwhelmed. ![]() We gave out stress balls and care packages on Mother’s Day and have events planned for Father’s Day. The goal is to distribute 10,000 hope stress balls and other gifts such as food, care packages, and gift certificates to participants during key holidays throughout the year. In order to do that Mothers In Crisis is launching the 10,000 Balls for Hope Campaign and Essay Contest. I, along with other volunteers of Mothers In Crisis, had so much fun giving out stress balls of hope during our Balls for Hope Campaign, until we decided to keep it going.
